I am here to tell you that everything I have accomplished in my life is because of my belief in physical fitness. My body is my temple and I pray to my higher self every single day. You will hear me talk about this a lot, but I believe to my very core, that I would not be the woman I am today were it not for my workouts. I can accomplish anything I set my mind to and it is because of the discipline of my daily routine. My daughters affectionately call me the “workout nazi”. That’s okay. I don’t mind. If my legacy is I taught my children to take care of their mind, body and soul through fitness I have done my job as a mom.
I am dedicating a huge part of my website to inspiring all women to get involved with their bodies and do something physical every single day. Whether you just want to push a mop around your house or train for a marathon everyone needs to move for at least 20 minutes a day.
Here is why:
The reported benefits of physical exercise are numerous. Working out reduces blood pressure, increases HDL, decreases body fat, reduces anxiety, tension and depression, increases your heart and lung capacity and has even decreased the incidents of some cancers. There are psychological benefits as well like seeing the number go down on the scale, reducing your dress size and turning heads! And if all that weren’t enough an on-going fitness program has a cumulative affect. Exercising increases your muscle mass and muscle mass needs a lot of energy for maintenance and rebuilding. The more muscle you have the higher your metabolism revs, the more energy your body uses to keep those muscles happy. Studies show that even at rest muscles burn up to 25% of your calorie intake. In other words, the more muscle mass you have the more your metabolism is working, the more calories you continue to burn even when you are asleep.
There is also that fitness high or “runners high”. When a person is physically active for 20 minutes or more the body releases endorphins, proteins in the brain that act as the body’s natural pain reliever. Think of it as your own internal morphine drip! That’s where the mental well-being and organic anti-depressant comes from.
I have been exercising and working out my entire life and though I don’t consider myself an athlete my heart rate, metabolism and hormones behave as if I were. And that is just the physical benefit. What I find invaluable is how I feel about myself physically, intellectually and sexually. I am very confident every time I walk into a room whether it’s a conference room, a dining room or a dance hall I will have everyone’s attention. I can’t honestly say that I’ve gotten the second date every time I’ve gone out on a first date, but I can say that my return rate is a solid 98%. I promise you I am not the funniest, brightest or most beautiful woman around, but I am assuredly one of the most confident. And when a woman exudes confidence, others feed off that energy. Male or female other people want what you have. It is not “The Secret” or a big secret, it all comes from exercising. If you look good, you feel good, if you feel good you are good. That is what “Your Grass is Green” is all about. No one has more or is better than you. You are perfect and you have all the skills and necessary “equipment” to be the best you! Nothing can stand in your way as long as you take care of the most important thing holding you together. Your body!
Every week I promise to post fitness tips and exercises to get you moving and motivated. They will be the latest, greatest, and most innovative. None of it will require any equipment, pills, potions or lapbands! All you need is you.

Sometimes I think all this aerobic stuff can actually be bad for you. It puts such a strain on the body. I am not sure what I think about all this exercise craze yet.
I must say you have a cool post. This hit the spot and then some! Thanks for posting this and sharing it with the world. I’ve just bookmarked your site. And I will check back soon to read your other articles. Keep up your awesome work.

Your work has always been a great source of inspiration for me. I refer you blog to many of my friends as well.
The hidden threat in all of this is that as peoplefight to downsize weight levels the knock on effect of all of this then emerges as levels of fitness tightens up with little available exercise being taken and more disease becoming prevalent…If Central Governments don’t take a grip soon then we could be facing an obesity problem.
Ahh trying to get in shape. One thing I will say about that is that it is way easy to keep fit then to get in shape. Trust me
