another persons pleasure. it’s so deliciously evil. Feeling a little twinge of guilty about that. Forget it. I was raised in a world of guilt.The bible has a long list of “bad deeds” we should never do or pray for forgiveness when we do. Wonderfully fulfilling activities like gossiping, coveting and relishing in another’s anguish. I am here to disagree. I contend that a little bit of naughty won’t hurt and may even be healthy. Its why we are glued to train wreck tv and can’t help but rubberneck when it comes to roadside car collisions. It is the underlying joy of knowing someone else’s life is worse than our own. That is not wrong and it is exactly why “Your Grass is Green” is in fact a fact. Your life is absolutely as it should be and absolutely perfect. Seeing someone else in hurt gives you permission to be glad you are you and NOT THEM.
Recently someone I know, someone who has caused a great deal of pain in my life suffered his own self induced pain. I was undeniably giddy. After all the years of emotional torture karma had finally hit a home run. For a moment I felt bad, I wanted to erase the happy bubbley thoughts filling my brain. I thought maybe a god induced lightening bolt might strike me dead. But upon further reflection I concluded that I should give myself permission to relish in my karmic infused high. So for 24 hours I jigged with guilt free glee. Satiated, I then responded with condolences and went back to living by the golden rule.
