Life’s little annoyances. Those seemingly insignificant incidences that drive you nuts! As if dating wasn’t challenging enough. Add to the mix those weird things people do and its surprising anybody is hookin up! A few of the top pesky date pet peeves are taking cell phone calls at the dinner table, firing questions like a job interview, or incessant discussion about the “ex”; you get the picture. For me, it’s the lackadaisical approach to return phone calls. I hate and I mean HATE when someone says,
“I’ll call you right back“……………………………..and don’t!!!
Minutes, hours, or days can go by without so much as a peep. What the hell is going on over there! And it’s not just a social dating flaw. I find that it is becoming more prevalent in business dealings as well. It is out of control! Maybe everyone is overwhelmed with social networking or we’ve become a society with a complete lack of communication etiquette. In either case it needs to change. The unreturned communiqué hangs in the air like a full-fledged rain cloud ready to burst. How long is “right back”? Is there a playbook on phone volley? Can we set a time limit…say 5 to 10 minutes? I hate to be a pest…but I need feedback!
I like to live by the rule “do what you say and say what you do”. If you say “I’ll call you right back,” do it. If on the other hand that “right back” really means NEVER or maybe you will call and maybe you won’t, do us all a favor and don’t say anything at all.
