Do you love shows like The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, and Mike & Molly? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chuck Lorre, the showrunner behind these television comedies, has recently sold a new multicamera half-hour comedy to CBS. The best part? The show will revolve around the life of a single mom!
I recently blogged about all of the inspiring single moms that can be found in films like Forrest Gump, so I can only hope that the single mom portrayed in this new television comedy will be another addition to the positive images of single moms.
The new show, titled Mom, was co-written by Lorre as well as Two and a Half Men executive producer Eddie Gorodetsky and story editor Gemma Baker. It focuses on a newly sober single mom as she attempts to put her life back together in Napa Valley.
If the show is anything like Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory, it is sure to be a success. My only concern is how they will portray a newly sober single mom within a comedy setting, especially with the discussion of important topics like alcoholism and single parenting. Still, I am glad that single moms are being brought to light within the television realm. I can’t wait to see what these hilarious minds will create!
Will you be tuning in to Mom? What do you hope to see in this comedic portrayal of single mom life?
